2008 Essex Express Baseball Father’s Day Summer Classic
The Essex Express Baseball/Softball Program will be holding their Annual Father=s Day Summer Classic tournament in June 2008. There are TWO divisions - the Recreation Division and the Open Division. Please note that the Recreation Div will play TWO weekends while the Open Division will play on Father’s Day weekend only.
In the Recreation Division - there is a 3 game guarantee. The first 3 games played during the first weekend of June 7 and 8 are for seating purposes. Everyone will return the second weekend of June 13, 14 and 15. Depending on the number of teams, the top 8 teams will play for the championship with a single elimination format. The rest of the teams will play in the Consolation round with a single elimination format for medallions. The first and second place teams will receive trophies in the championship round and medallions in the consolation round. This is subject to change, depending on the number of teams in each division. Teams will be placed in either A or B division.
In the Open Division, - these games will take place only during Father’s Day weekend on June 13, 14, and 15 (with the possibility of a Friday night game on June 13th). There is a 3 game guarantee. Championship game will be played on Sunday, June 15th. If there are not enough teams for a single age division, then the Tournament Director reserves the right to combine two age groups.

Friday, June 13th, Saturday, June 14th and Sunday, June 15th for Open Division only
Age Brackets Rec Div Baseball: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19 Divisions - A and B Division.
We reserve the right to move a team from an A or B division to another.
Open Div Baseball: U8, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U16, U19, U22
Baseball: May 1, 2008 determines age group.
Entry: All entries are due by May 31, 2008. All players in the Rec Division must be participating in an in-house program during the spring of 2008 to be eligible. Open Division is open to all teams, including Club, American Legion, Metro, Mid-Maryland teams, etc. Proof of insurance required.
Draw: Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 7 p.m. at Essex Elementary School Activity Room, 100 Mace Avenue, Baltimore MD 21221. Rosters and entry fees are due June 1, 2008. If teams are unable to
attend the draw, information will be available via the internet.
All managers or travel coordinator signatures on Rosters confirm adherence to all rules.
Entry Fee: $175.00 per team. Make checks payable to: Essex Baseball. Paperwork must be faxed or mailed prior to June 1, 2008 and all entry fees must be paid prior to June 1, 2008. There will be 1st and 2nd place team trophies and 15 individual trophies per team. In the consolation round there will be 15 medallions.
Umpires: Each team will be responsible for the umpire fees. Rates will be posted on internet.
